Marijean Aguayo

Vice President 

Responsibilities:

  • Acts on behalf of the president when necessary.

  • Oversees board and chapter trainings with the advice of the chapter liaison. . 

  • Assists chapter directors in providing education opportunities for the chapter members.

  • Actively promotes CDA and NAFCC Accreditation.

  • Works closely with the state Child Care Resource and Referral agencies to have current information about their mentoring programs.

  • Attend all board meetings, including annual retreat and training. 

      Marijean Aguayo was raised in Cedar City, Utah. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Fullerton in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. After finishing school, she moved back to Cedar City to open The Learning Treehouse Family Childcare. In February 2016, Marijean graduated from Walden University with a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Diversity in Early Childhood. Recently, she has joined the Care About Childcare team as a trainer and as the advanced cohort leader in her area.

 

      Marijean is the wife of 1, the mother of 1, the youngest of 7, the aunt of 25, and the great aunt of 4. In her spare time, she loves to watch her son play soccer, attend local sports games, watch NFL with her family, or just relax! She has so much passion and love for young children and feels strongly about advocating for best practices and policies. Her early childhood passion started as a young college student at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA. She attended school and worked at their amazing early childhood program. It was here she learned about the importance of play for young children’s optimal growth and development. It was her hands-on learning experience and her own personal play experiences that led her to be the educator she is today.
